JetBlue A321 Planes Collide with Each Other on Ground at Boston-Logan International Airport

BOSTON- On Thursday morning (Feb 8, 2024), two JetBlue (B6) Airways planes experienced a collision on the tarmac at Boston Logan International Airport (BOS), causing disruptions to the travel plans of all passengers on board.

The left winglet of Flight B6777 struck the right horizontal stabilizer of Flight B6551 around 6:40 a.m. while on the deicing pad, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

A passenger named Dave Souter, en route to Las Vegas (LAS) for a Super Bowl-related event, recounted that the incident occurred after the planes had pulled away from the gate, as he shared with Boston 25 News.

Dave Souter mentioned that Flight B6777 was at full capacity, and he was waiting for the plane to return to the gate for another flight. The other involved plane was destined for Orlando, Florida, according to officials.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is currently conducting an investigation into the incident.

According to Planespotters and FlightRadar24 data, the aircraft involved in the incident are Airbus A321neos.

The JetBlue Flight 777 was operated by A321, registered as N2157J. It is just a 5-month-old aircraft and is named Live In The MoMint.

While, flight 551 was operated by aircraft having registration N956JT. Further, it is an 8.4-year-old aircraft and named as The Bluer, The Better.
