Qatar Airways Codeshare with This African Airline on 19 Destinations

DOHA- Qatar Airways (QR) and Kenya Airways (KQ) have announced the expansion of their codeshare partnership, introducing new routes connecting Nairobi (NBO) and Doha (DOH) to 19 destinations across Africa, Asia, and the Middle East.

From 26 October 2025, passengers can book these codeshare flights, with sales opening on 21 October. The collaboration builds on growing travel demand between the regions, enhancing access and connectivity through Hamad International Airport (DOH) and Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO).

Qatar Airways and Kenya Airways Codeshare

The expanded codeshare agreement allows Kenya Airways customers to fly between Nairobi and Doha, connecting onward to 10 key cities through Qatar Airways’ global network. These include Bahrain (BAH), Colombo (CMB), Islamabad (ISB), Karachi (KHI), Malé (MLE), Singapore (SIN), and Tokyo Narita (NRT).

Conversely, Qatar Airways passengers can now access eight destinations in Kenya Airways’ network via Nairobi, such as Lilongwe (LLW), Livingstone (LVI), Juba (JUB), Nampula (APL), Ndola (NLA), and Victoria Falls (VFA). These new links improve travel options across Africa and provide Qatar Airways with a stronger footprint on the continent.

Qatar Airways Chief Commercial Officer, Thierry Antinori, said the partnership marks a milestone in expanding the airline’s presence in Africa, supported by the addition of a third daily flight to Nairobi.

Kenya Airways Chief Commercial and Customer Officer, Julius Thairu, added that the collaboration will enhance connectivity for travelers across Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.

Expanding Access Through Strategic Hubs

The codeshare flights allow passengers from more than 170 Qatar Airways destinations to access key African leisure and business markets served by Kenya Airways. Through Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO), travelers can now connect seamlessly to regional capitals and tourism hubs.

At the same time, Kenya Airways customers benefit from smoother access to Qatar Airways’ network via Hamad International Airport (DOH), recognized as the Best Airport in the Middle East for 11 consecutive years by Skytrax.

Qatar Airways Privilege Club members can also earn Avios when flying on Kenya Airways-operated codeshare routes, adding value to the customer experience.

Future Collaboration and Growth

Both airlines plan to deepen cooperation beyond codeshares. Future areas include airport operations, lounges, sustainability initiatives, procurement, and cargo operations. They are also exploring joint projects in maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) and continued network development.

This enhanced partnership represents a key step toward integrating African air travel with the broader global network, supporting smoother passenger movement between continents.
