FORT WORTH- American Airlines (AA) is preparing for Summer 2026 with 15 new routes across its network, offering expanded options from major hubs and key regional airports. The airline says these additions will strengthen connectivity for both domestic and international travel.
Travelers flying through Chicago (ORD), Phoenix (PHX), Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW), Miami (MIA), Boston (BOS), and Charlotte (CLT) will see more nonstop choices that support leisure demand, regional access, and onward global connections.
American Airlines 15 New Summer Routes
American Airlines plans to roll out an extensive set of domestic routes designed to improve access for both smaller cities and established markets.
The airline emphasizes steady demand across regional hubs and aims to support growth into 2026 with year-round and seasonal offerings.
The new schedule includes fresh East Coast and Midwest connectivity from Boston (BOS) to Madison (MSN) and Nantucket (ACK), along with added links from Charlotte (CLT) to Columbia (COU). Chicago (ORD) will see new service to Erie (ERI), Lincoln (LNK), and Tri Cities (TRI). Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) will add flights to Lincoln (LNK) and Roanoke (ROA).
Miami (MIA) will gain limited seasonal service to Jackson (JAN). In the West, Phoenix (PHX) receives the largest number of additions with daily or seasonal flights to Abilene (ABI), Anchorage (ANC), Bozeman (BZN), Kalispell (FCA), McAllen (MFE), Rapid City (RAP), and Lincoln (LNK).

Strengthening the Chicago Hub
American Airlines plans more than 500 daily departures from Chicago (ORD) next summer as the hub continues to grow at a steady pace.
New service to Erie (ERI), Lincoln (LNK), and Tri Cities (TRI) will broaden access for regional travelers. Seasonal routes to Santa Fe (SAF) and Key West (EYW) will shift from winter only to extended summer availability.
The airline will also enhance summer access to Hilton Head (HHH), Pensacola (PNS), and Panama City (ECP), which will transition from weekend-only service to daily operations. As part of American’s spring expansion, departures from ORD will rise by more than 30 percent compared to 2025.
All flights from Chicago operate with dual-class aircraft, supporting demand for premium cabins. The London (LHR) route from ORD continues to feature the airline’s Flagship Suite offering.
Connecting Smaller Cities to Global Destinations
Lincoln (LNK) becomes the airline’s 240th U.S. destination on June 4, giving local travelers one-stop access to major global cities such as Athens (ATH), Cancun (CUN), Rome (FCO), and Sao Paulo (GRU). American remains the largest domestic airline by number of destinations served, and the new additions reinforce that position.
In the West, Phoenix (PHX) will anchor seven new routes that link travelers to national parks, regional attractions, and cross-border destinations. New links to Abilene (ABI) and McAllen (MFE) will support business and leisure traffic throughout the Southwest and Mexico.
Recent expansions have also included service to Carlsbad (CLD), Golden Triangle (GTR), Santa Maria (SMX), and Sun Valley (SUN). In 2026, American becomes the only U.S. carrier connecting the country with Bimini (BIM), while a new service to Vero Beach (VRB) adds more Florida access.
The airline’s hub system now supports travel to more than 350 destinations worldwide, and in partnership with global airline alliances, travelers can reach more than 1,000 cities.
