ABU DHABI- Etihad Airways (EY) will deploy its Airbus A380 on daily flights between Zayed International Airport (AUH) and Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) from 25 October 2026, marking the aircraft’s first scheduled service to Thailand.
The move increases capacity on the Abu Dhabi–Bangkok route and introduces The Residence, the only three-room suite in commercial aviation, to the Thailand market ahead of the peak winter travel season.
Etihad Deploys A380 to Bangkok
Etihad Airways will operate the Airbus A380 on its evening daily service between Abu Dhabi and Bangkok. The aircraft replaces existing equipment on one of the airline’s strongest leisure routes, adding significant seat capacity across First, Business, and Economy cabins.
The A380 service strengthens air links between Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Europe through Abu Dhabi’s hub.
Bangkok remains a high-demand destination for both point-to-point traffic and connecting passengers travelling onward to Europe and other global markets via Zayed International Airport.
The deployment aligns with increased winter demand and supports Etihad’s broader strategy to optimize capacity on high-performing long-haul routes.

Cabin Configuration and Onboard Experience
Etihad’s A380 features a multi-cabin layout designed to serve premium and leisure travelers alike.
First Class includes nine private First Apartments on the upper deck. Each apartment offers a leather lounge chair, a separate ottoman that converts into an 80-inch fully flat bed, and access to a dedicated First shower room. Guests also have access to personal vanity units and premium dining service.
Business Class comprises 70 lie-flat seats with direct aisle access. The upper deck also houses The Lobby, a lounge and bar area located between the First and Business cabins. Wi-Fi connectivity is available throughout the aircraft.
Economy Class includes 337 standard seats and 68 Economy Space seats that provide four additional inches of legroom. Seats feature fixed-wing headrests and larger pillows to improve comfort on long-haul flights.
The Residence: Three-Room Suite at 40,000 Feet
The Residence sits at the front of the upper deck and remains the only three-room suite offered by a commercial airline. Designed for up to two guests, it includes a private living room, a separate bedroom, and an ensuite bathroom with a shower.
Passengers in The Residence receive personalized cabin service and can dine from an à la carte menu served on designer tableware.
Offerings include gourmet cuisine, caviar, champagne, and a signature high tea service. Guests may also request in-room dining, including breakfast served in bed.
Abu Dhabi Stopover and Connectivity
The A380 deployment reinforces Abu Dhabi’s position as a transit hub linking Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. Through Etihad’s Abu Dhabi Stopover Programme, travelers can extend their journey to explore the UAE capital.
Visitors can access attractions such as Saadiyat Island’s beaches, Louvre Abu Dhabi, cultural districts, and year-round events.
The stopover option allows passengers to combine a Thailand holiday with a stay in Abu Dhabi under a single booking.
