The temporary expansion aims to maintain reliable connectivity between India and key global destinations while airlines continue to adjust routes due to operational constraints linked to the situation in West Asia.

The additional services focus on major transit hubs and high-demand travel markets in Europe and North America, along with regional connections to Maldives and Sri Lanka.

Aircraft Deployment for Additional Services

Air India will operate the additional European services using Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft, which are commonly used on long-haul routes.

Flights connecting Delhi and New York (JFK) will be operated by the airline’s Boeing 777-300ER, subject to required regulatory approvals.

Regional flights to Malé and Colombo will be operated using Airbus A320neo aircraft, supporting short-haul demand and onward connectivity.

According to Nipun Aggarwal, Chief Commercial Officer at Air India, the airline remains committed to maintaining international connectivity by using alternate routings assessed as safe for operations.

The additional flights are intended to provide passengers with more travel options and greater schedule reliability during the current period of disruption.

The newly announced flights are being progressively opened for reservations. Passengers can book tickets through Air India’s official website, mobile application, and authorized travel agents.
