ABU DHABI, UAE- Abu Dhabi is offering free UAE visa charges to eligible Indian tourists booking qualifying holidays through participating travel partners.
The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi will cover the visa charge for qualifying bookings from August 1 to October 31, 2026. The pilot covers up to 20,000 visas and requires a minimum 3 night hotel stay and a return flight from India.
Abu Dhabi Launches Free Visa Programme for Indians
Indian passport holders travelling from India can receive their UAE entry visa without an additional visa charge when they book an eligible Abu Dhabi holiday through participating travel partners or online travel agencies.
The programme is designed to make Abu Dhabi more accessible to Indian travellers while encouraging longer stays in the emirate. It is not a general visa waiver for all Indian passport holders.
Arabian Business also reported the initiative as part of Abu Dhabi’s efforts to strengthen its appeal among Indian travellers.
The programme applies to Indian passport holders who meet all of the booking conditions established by DCT Abu Dhabi.
Eligible travellers must:
- Travel to Abu Dhabi from India
- Book through a participating travel partner or online travel agency
- Include at least 3 consecutive nights at an Abu Dhabi hotel
- Include a return flight from India
- Meet the programme’s visa-processing requirements
The visa benefit is linked directly to the qualifying holiday package. Travellers cannot independently apply for a UAE visa and expect the promotional charge to be waived.
Programme Dates and Visa Capacity
DCT Abu Dhabi will operate the initiative from August 1 to October 31, 2026. The programme is a pilot with an initial capacity of up to 20,000 visas.
The defined quota applies during the 3-month operating period and means eligible travellers should confirm that programme capacity remains available before booking. The pilot is scheduled to close on October 31, 2026.
Three Consecutive Hotel Nights Are Required
The qualifying holiday must include a minimum of 3 consecutive hotel nights in Abu Dhabi.
This condition makes the programme a tourism incentive rather than a standalone visa promotion. DCT Abu Dhabi has linked visa funding directly to overnight visitation, ensuring that each qualifying traveller generates at least 3 nights of accommodation demand in the emirate.
The 3 night requirement also makes the offer more relevant to travellers planning a short Abu Dhabi holiday rather than passengers using the emirate only as a transit point.
Eligible packages must include a return flight from India.
The traveller must originate the journey in India, and the return air travel forms part of the qualifying holiday package. Agencies remain responsible for packaging flights, accommodation and other holiday components required for the customer’s trip.
Travellers should confirm the flight conditions with their participating travel partner before making payment.
Visa Processing Arrangements
DCT Abu Dhabi has established two processing routes for participating travel companies.
Under the first arrangement, DCT-appointed Destination Management Companies (DMCs) handle the visa process for eligible bookings. When agencies use these appointed DMCs, DCT Abu Dhabi covers the visa cost directly.
The second arrangement applies to travel partners that retain existing relationships with their own DMCs. Under this route, eligible agencies receive reimbursement from DCT Abu Dhabi for each qualifying visa issued through the programme.
The reimbursement is AED 285, or approximately US$77.60, per qualifying visa.
The 2 arrangements allow travel partners to use either DCT’s appointed processing channel or their existing DMC relationships while maintaining the visa benefit for eligible customers.
What Free Visa Benefit Actually Covers
DCT Abu Dhabi covers the visa charge for eligible bookings. The programme does not mean that every cost associated with a UAE holiday becomes free.
Travellers remain responsible for the cost of flights, hotels and other components included in their holiday package unless those elements are separately discounted by the travel provider.
The visa benefit also remains conditional on meeting every programme requirement.
Indian passport holders who normally require a UAE entry visa still need the appropriate visa for their journey.
The Abu Dhabi initiative only removes the visa charge for qualifying bookings under the promotional programme. It does not change the general UAE immigration rules or create visa-free entry for all Indian citizens.
Travellers should therefore verify the latest UAE entry and immigration requirements before departure because visa rules and travel conditions can change.
Major Abu Dhabi Tourism Market
India was one of Abu Dhabi’s strongest international tourism markets during 2025.
International arrivals from major source markets increased by 10% during the year, while arrivals from India increased by 22% compared with 2024.
Abu Dhabi recorded 26.6 million visitors in 2025, while its hotels accommodated 5.9 million guests during the year.
Hotel revenue increased by 19.5% to AED 9.1 billion, or approximately US$2.48 billion. Meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions activity also generated 2.2 million delegates, representing a 40% increase.
The figures provide a strong commercial basis for DCT Abu Dhabi’s continued focus on the Indian market.
Abu Dhabi’s Wider India Strategy
DCT Abu Dhabi has positioned the visa initiative alongside its wider efforts to strengthen air connectivity and travel trade distribution in the Indian market.
The programme gives participating agencies a defined visa subsidy that can be attached to qualifying Abu Dhabi holiday packages. This provides travel partners with an additional reason to recommend Abu Dhabi to Indian customers.
The initiative also connects visa funding with hotel demand, flight connectivity and travel-agent distribution instead of treating visa support as a standalone consumer offer.
India’s Strategic Importance
Abdulla Yousuf, Director of International Operations at DCT Abu Dhabi, described India as one of Abu Dhabi’s most important international markets.
He said the emirate remains committed to working with travel partners to make Abu Dhabi more accessible to Indian travellers.
He also said covering UAE entry visa costs would make it simpler for Indian travellers to choose Abu Dhabi while giving travel partners an additional reason to recommend the destination.
DCT Abu Dhabi expects the programme to support more visitors as they explore the emirate’s culture, entertainment, hospitality and natural attractions.
