HELSINKI— Emirates (EK) has launched its first direct service to Helsinki, Finland, opening a new year-round air link between the United Arab Emirates and the Nordic country.
Flight EK167 departed Dubai International Airport (DXB) on October 1 with a near-full passenger and cargo load, carrying government representatives, business delegates and media members on the inaugural journey.
The daily Dubai-Helsinki service marks Emirates’ entry into the Finnish market and provides passengers with direct access between the two cities.
The new route also connects Helsinki Airport (HEL) with Emirates’ extensive network through Dubai, offering onward travel options across Asia, Africa, the Middle East, the Indian Ocean region and Australasia.

Emirates Starts Daily Helsinki Flights
Emirates will operate the new route every day using an Airbus A350, the newest aircraft type in its fleet.
The aircraft serving Helsinki features 298 seats across Business Class, Premium Economy and Economy Class, bringing Emirates’ latest cabin products to the Finnish market from the start of operations.
The A350 also introduces a modern cabin environment with bright interiors and updated technology.
Passengers can access Emirates’ onboard entertainment system while enjoying multi-course meals that include Finnish-inspired dishes such as juniper-marinated salmon, seared venison and lingonberry cheesecake.
The launch expands Emirates’ presence across the Nordic region while giving Finnish travellers direct access to Dubai. From the UAE hub, passengers can continue to destinations across East and Southeast Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Australia and New Zealand.

UAE Finland Connectivity and Trade Links
The inaugural flight carried a delegation representing several areas of cooperation between Finland and the UAE.
His Excellency Mohamed Rashid bin Taliah, Assistant Minister of Cabinet Affairs for Government Knowledge Exchange, joined representatives involved in cybersecurity, digital transformation, energy, trade and education.
Finland’s Ambassador to the UAE and Bahrain, Her Excellency Tuula Yrjölä, also travelled on the inaugural service, alongside Jorge Fernández Gates, Senior Advisor at the Embassy of Finland in Abu Dhabi.
Other officials included Omar bin Ghaleb, Deputy Director General of the General Civil Aviation Authority, and Samuli Pesu, Chairman of the Finnish Business Council UAE.
Emirates’ delegation was led by Adnan Kazim, Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, and Jeffrey Van Haeften, Senior Vice President of Cargo Commercial Worldwide at Emirates SkyCargo.

Cargo Trade Opportunities Between Finland and UAE
The new route is also designed to support two-way trade between Finland and the UAE. Emirates SkyCargo will provide up to 16 tonnes of belly-hold cargo capacity on each flight, allowing businesses to move goods through Dubai to wider international markets.
The carrier expects the service to support shipments of pharmaceuticals, electronics, machinery, timber, perishables and other high-value goods.
The additional capacity could strengthen commercial links between Finnish businesses and markets across the Emirates network while providing UAE companies with improved access to Finland,
With daily operations and year-round scheduling, the Dubai-Helsinki route combines passenger connectivity with dedicated cargo potential.
Emirates said the service will help deepen tourism, business, and trade links between Finland and the UAE while expanding Helsinki’s access to its global network.
