FRANKFURT— Condor (DE) will strengthen its transatlantic network by launching a new daily nonstop service between Frankfurt Airport (FRA) and Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) from May 14, 2027.

Condor Starts Frankfurt to Chicago Flight

Chicago is among the largest metropolitan areas in the United States and serves as a global center for business, finance, manufacturing, and culture.

The city also hosts one of the country’s largest German-American communities, making it an attractive market for both business and visiting friends and relatives (VFR) traffic.

As one of North America’s most important airline hubs, Chicago offers extensive domestic connections across the United States.

The destination also attracts international tourists with its renowned architecture, museums, diverse culinary scene, music culture, and scenic Lake Michigan waterfront while serving as a gateway to the wider Midwest region.

Condor CEO Peter Gerber said Chicago represents an ideal addition to the airline’s North American network because it combines strong leisure and corporate travel demand.

He added that the route will provide passengers from Germany with convenient access to one of America’s most significant metropolitan areas while allowing travelers from Chicago to connect easily to numerous European destinations through Frankfurt.

Passengers departing Chicago will gain access to Condor’s growing European network via Frankfurt. Travelers can also continue onward to destinations served through the airline’s partner carriers, creating additional travel options throughout Europe and beyond.

Terminal 3 Move for Operations

The Chicago launch coincides with another major milestone for Condor. Beginning with the 2027 summer schedule, the airline will transfer its operations to Frankfurt Airport’s newly developed Terminal 3.

The modern facility is designed to improve the passenger experience through shorter walking distances, updated infrastructure, spacious waiting areas, and more efficient airport processes.

Connecting passengers are expected to benefit from faster transfers between long-haul and European flights, making Frankfurt an even more convenient transit hub.

The move also aligns with Condor’s long-term strategy to strengthen its Frankfurt operations while supporting future network expansion.

Together with additional partner airline connections, the new terminal is expected to streamline international travel for passengers flying through Germany’s largest aviation gateway.

A330neo Passenger Experience

Condor will operate the Frankfurt–Chicago route using its Airbus A330neo fleet, the airline’s flagship long-haul aircraft. The aircraft features quieter cabins, improved fuel efficiency, and significantly lower carbon dioxide emissions than previous-generation widebody aircraft.

Business Class passengers will have access to fully flat beds measuring up to 1.99 meters, direct aisle access from every seat, and premium onboard services.

Premium Economy offers increased legroom and enhanced seating comfort, while all travelers can enjoy modern inflight entertainment and onboard Wi-Fi throughout the journey.

The deployment of the A330neo reflects Condor’s continued investment in fleet modernization as it expands its long-haul network with newer, more efficient aircraft designed to improve passenger comfort while reducing environmental impact.
