DUBAI- Emirates (EK) has opened its new £10 million lounge at Manchester Airport (MAN) in Terminal 2, marking the first UK location for the airline’s latest signature lounge concept. The new facility combines contemporary interiors, integrated technology, local dining and wellness-focused amenities.
Manchester Airport (MAN) is now home to an Emirates lounge featuring more than 50 design enhancements across dedicated areas for relaxation, work, socialising and dining. The lounge also gives eligible passengers access to direct boarding from the lounge to their aircraft.
Inside Emirates’ New £10 Million Manchester Lounge
Emirates has invested £10 million in its new Manchester Airport lounge as part of its continued commitment to the region. The facility introduces the airline’s latest signature lounge concept to the United Kingdom for the first time.
Mohammad Mattar, Divisional Senior Vice President, Airport Services at Emirates, said Manchester is an important gateway in the airline’s global network and that the scale of the investment reflects Emirates’ long-term commitment to the region.
According to Mattar, the new lounge concept brings together hospitality, innovation and attention to detail to enhance the Emirates experience throughout the journey.
The lounge has been arranged into dedicated zones for different passenger needs, including relaxation, work, socialising and dining. More than 50 design enhancements have been incorporated throughout the space.
The new lounge combines contemporary design with practical features intended to improve the pre-flight experience.
Italian eco-leather seating is fitted with wireless charging and universal power access at every seat. Herringbone flooring adds a distinctive interior detail, while a signature Emirates scent uses bergamot, citrus, jasmine and soft wood.
Guests can also view an artefact display celebrating international artists and Emirati culture. Emirates’ signature Rolex clocks show different global time zones across the lounge.
Additional passenger facilities include upgraded shower suites equipped with VOYA toiletries. A dedicated Quiet Zone provides soft lighting and sleep amenities for passengers seeking a calmer environment before their flight.
The lounge also includes private spaces and prayer rooms, giving passengers more options for rest, privacy and personal use.
Made in Manchester Food and Drinks
Dining is a central feature of the new lounge, with food and drinks included as part of lounge access.
An open show kitchen prepares dishes à la minute, allowing passengers to watch freshly prepared food being cooked. A dedicated barista bar serves crafted coffee finished with cocoa-dusted designs, including the Manchester bee and Emirates emblem.
A dedicated mixologist serves locally inspired cocktails and mocktails. The signature Made in Manchester drink combines Vimto Summer, grenadine, lemonade and fresh strawberry.
The lounge’s Made in Manchester food menu highlights regional flavours and local suppliers. Featured dishes include Fleetwood marinated king prawns, oven-baked Fleetwood sea bream and Wigan meat and potato pie.
Other regional specialities include Shetland kippers with crumpets and poached egg, Lancashire smoked trout and Cheshire cheeses.
The Manchester-inspired selection is served alongside a substantial international menu featuring dishes from a range of cuisines. This gives passengers a wider choice while keeping local ingredients and regional specialities at the centre of the lounge’s dining offer.
The beverage selection includes Emirates’ curated range of wines, beers and spirits, as well as Moët & Chandon Champagne.
Direct Boarding From the Lounge
The Emirates lounge provides direct boarding from the lounge to the aircraft, creating a more direct transition from the pre-flight area to the flight.
Emirates states that it is the only airline at Manchester Airport to offer direct boarding from its lounge to the aircraft.
The feature forms part of the lounge’s overall focus on making the pre-flight process more seamless for eligible passengers.
Manchester Airport’s Terminal 2 Transformation
Stephen Turner, Chief Commercial Officer at Manchester Airport, said the airport is focused on connecting passengers from across the North with destinations around the world while providing a strong passenger experience.
Turner also highlighted the regional focus of Emirates’ new lounge, including its luxury design, direct boarding feature and Manchester-inspired menu featuring local cuisine and suppliers.
Manchester Airport has invested £1.5 billion in the transformation of Terminal 2. According to Turner, the project is now all but complete, with Emirates passengers able to experience the upgraded terminal environment from arrival through to boarding.
The new Emirates lounge adds another premium facility to Terminal 2 while reinforcing the airport’s links with local suppliers and the wider North of England region.
Emirates Manchester to Dubai Services
Emirates currently operates three daily services between Manchester and Dubai.
The airline describes Manchester as an important gateway within its global network, making the city a significant part of its UK operations.
The new lounge strengthens Emirates’ premium passenger offering at Manchester while supporting the airline’s existing services from Terminal 2.
Emirates Lounge Access and Opening Hours
The Emirates lounge is located in Terminal 2 at Manchester Airport and is open for up to four hours before scheduled flight departures.
First Class and Business Class customers receive complimentary lounge access. Emirates Skywards Platinum and Gold members also have complimentary access, including when travelling in Premium Economy or Economy Class.
Emirates customers who do not meet these complimentary access criteria can purchase lounge access on arrival.
The access structure therefore covers premium-cabin passengers as well as eligible Skywards members travelling in lower cabin classes.
